Full-time Licensed Vocational Nurse

Job Summary:

Under the supervision of the Administrative Nurse Manager or Practice Manager and guided by the procedures of Ambulatory Services, the Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) is responsible for providing nursing care to patients in the ambulatory setting. The LVN will play a critical role in the patient experience including optimizing clinic flow, providing in and outreach to patients and working collaboratively with the team to create a patient centered environment.

In collaboration with providers, the LVN has the clinical responsibility for developing and maintaining a high standard of patient care. S/he is responsible for daily clinical operations and maintaining a safe environment for patients and staff. All components of nursing care will be individualized to meet the patient’s physiological, psychosocial, cultural, and developmental level and needs.

The LVN consistently projects a professional and courteous demeanor, helps establish and maintain the highest service standards for the practice and complies with the Medical Center House and Telephone Standards.


• Minimum one (1) year of LVN experience in an outpatient specialty practice with complex procedures or similar environment
• Active Licensed Vocational Nurse licensure in the State of California
• Active American Heart Association CPR certification
• Experience working in a patient centric and/or private practice clinical setting
• Possession of skills, knowledge and abilities essential to the successful performance of duties assigned
• Ability to prioritize multiple clinical tasks, while providing the highest quality of care and customer service
• Excellent communication skills
• Basic computer skills
• The flexibility to orient and work at all UCSF Medical Center locations

Preferred Qualifications:

• Familiarity with Electronic Medical Record systems.
• Recent Urology experience

• Active Licensed Vocational Nurse licensure in the State of California
• Active American Heart Association CPR certification

Work Environment
• Keeps working areas neat, orderly and clutter-free, including the hallways. Adheres to cleaning processes and puts things back where they belong. Removes and reports broken equipment and furniture.
• Picks up and disposes of any litter found throughout entire facility.
• Posts flyers and posters in designated areas only; does not post on walls, doors or windows.
• Knows where the Environment of Care Manual is kept in department; corrects or reports unsafe conditions to the appropriate departments.
• Protects the physical environment and equipment from damage and theft.
