Environmental Test Technician
(US Citizenship Required )

Responsibilities:
• Primarily test highly complex, highly-reliable ground electronics, aircraft electronics and spaceflight payload electronics using shock and vibration test systems, temperature chambers, humidity testing systems, rain testing systems, altitude chambers and thermal vacuum chambers.
• Develop and prepare results.
• 3rd shift position; 2nd and/or 3rd shift coverage will be required for most assignments.

Qualifications:
• Required – able to obtain TS/SCI w/ poly clearance within 24 months; active TS/SCI preferred.
• Able to work varied shifts: 1st, 2nd, or 3rd
• Knowledge of shock and vibration test systems, temperature chambers, humidity testing, rain testing, altitude chambers.
• Strong background in environmental test techniques; can interpret complex environmental test procedures
• Knowledgeable using systems to test equipment for shock and vibration, temperature, humidity, salt-fog and thermal-vacuum is required; thorough knowledge of both climatic and dynamic test methods, specifications, and associated equipment; able to accurately and legibly record test data gathered from a variety of computer-controlled data acquisition hardware.
• Able to read and follow detailed work instructions and/or test procedures.
• Able to interpret MIL STD’s, project/customer test specifications
• Able to set up, conduct, and monitor both dynamic and climatic environmental tests including:
o Acceleration
o Bench handling
o Explosive decompression
o Immersion
o Shock – drop, pyro, mechanical, & synthesized
o Rain – dripping & blowing
o Corrosion (salt fog)
o Temperature – altitude, cycling, storage, humidity, & shock
o Thermal vacuum
o Thermal vibration
o Transportation (bounce)
o Vibration – random, sine, sine-on-random, random-on-random
• The use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is required for many of the tests listed above, due to the loud nature of the testing and equipment involved (compressors, blowers, pumps, solenoids, etc…), chemicals, mass of test fixturing and test items, or exposure to extreme heat and cold (cryogenic).
• Able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs. and to use various common hand tools (pliers, screwdrivers, etc)
• Able to maintain and repair major mechanical & electrical test equipment, including annual preventive maintenance and periodic repairs due to equipment failure; knows electrical systems, hydraulic/compressed gas systems, cryogenic fluids, mechanical systems, and the safety associated when working around this type of equipment is required.
• Good computer skills and knowledge of Windows and MS Office are required.
• Able to interface daily with engineering; may be tasked to run special tests for engineering.
• Able to manage time effectively in order to support multiple projects throughout the work day.
• Able to work successfully with associates in other departments and understand cross-functional relationships.
US Citizenship is required by law, regulation, executive order, or government contract.

Education and Experience:
• Associate's degree in related discipline or equivalent is required plus a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience
