TQI Solutions has an immediate need for a Linux Systems Administrator at Fort Belvoir, VA. This permanent, direct-hire opportunity will provide installation, maintenance and troubleshooting support of information systems applications and related peripheral hardware. This position requires an active Top Secret (TS) clearance.

Position Responsibilities / Description:

Administering Linux servers, both physical and virtual.
Apply system security setting as outlined in the DISA Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIG) and DISA Security Requirements Guide (SRG) to the customer’s Linux systems and assess their impact on the systems and related applications.
Design and implement all aspects of the Linux software requirements, life cycle: requirements definition, design, code, debugging, verification and test, and maintenance of software modules.
Design new Linux software modules to be used in complex software systems supporting Regional Cyber Centers. Work with legacy UNIX based software adding enhancements and new features to the existing software systems.
Install and modify Linux -operating system software, applications software, and terminal emulation software for access to mainframe hosts, and perform diagnostics when necessary on individual workstations as well as on the network fileserver.
Isolate and resolve complex Linux software problems involving the application, the Linux operating system, the hardware, and the communications infrastructure and maintain various databases running on Linux platforms, such as Oracle, and Sybase, as required and perform system accesses and Linux handling system or software problems that may arise.
Conduct system backups and restorations as required.

Basic Required Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical certifications or training, or work experience.
Must have a minimum of a Top-Secret clearance with SCI eligibility on hire and confirmed within JPAS.
Experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux including operations, maintenance of software/networks, physical and virtual environments, account management, system patching, system tuning, backup, and recovery.
Experience troubleshooting database problems, failures, and performance issues.
Excellent problem solving, analytical, and decision-making capabilities, including understanding user requirements, troubleshooting technical issues, successfully resolving issues and challenges, and developing creative solutions for process improvement.
The candidate must have excellent communication and documentation skills, and will be responsible for creating all related standards, operating procedures, and security documentation.

Certification Requirements:

DoD 8570.01-M IAT Level II Certification (e.g., CompTIA Security+ CE) at date of hire
DoD 8570.01-M IAT Level II Computing Environment (CE) Certification as determined by the Program Manager (e.g.., Red Hat Certification (RHCSA or RHCE)).
If you start only with a Security+ CE, continued employment will be contingent on receiving the additional Linux certification within 3 months after your start date.
CND-IS Certification (i.e. CEH, CySA+, GICSP, or SSCP – only one is required)
If you start only with a Security+ CE, continued employment will be contingent on receiving the additional CND-IS certificate within 3 months after your start date.

Additional Desired Qualifications: (preferred not required)

Experience with administering systems in a government environment
Experience with VMWare
RMF experience
Familiarity with programming languages such as Perl, PHP, Python
Knowledge of UNIX
Prior experience supporting the US Army or other service in one or more of the following areas: Information Technology, Cyber, Engineering or Intel.
