UX/UI Designer Full-time

at SCIITS in Virginia (Published at 02-05-2018)

We are looking for a user interface designer responsible for collaborating with a team of UX researchers and designers to translate qualitative and quantitative data, sitemaps, wireframes and prototypes into complete, detailed interface designs.

Responsibilities
• Translate concepts, wireframes and mockups into detailed interface designs.
• Facilitate client’s product visions through application of sound design principles to create compelling digital products.
• Design and deliver detailed mockups, sample code, styles and documentation for screen designs that accommodate a wide range of devices.
• Identify design problems and devise elegant solutions.
• Make strategic design and user-experience decisions related to core, and new, functions and features.
• Take a user-centered design approach and rapidly test and iterate your designs.
• Collaborate with other team members and stakeholders.


Requirements
• Three or more years of UI design experience. Preference will be given to candidates who have experience working on complex enterprise solutions.
• Expertise in UI software such as Sketch, InVision, UXPin, Balsamiq, and the like is a must. HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript skills are a big plus.
• Ability to work with clients and teammates to understand detailed requirements and design interfaces that meet client needs and vision.
• Deep understanding of strategies to achieve compelling cross-screen experiences (e.g., mobile-first, adaptive design, responsive design, progressive web apps).
• A solid grasp of user-centered design and testing methodologies, subsystems, and usability and accessibility concerns.
• A clear understanding of the importance of user-centered design.
• Ability to iterate your designs and solutions efficiently and intelligently.
• Ability to clearly and effectively communicate design processes, ideas, and solutions to teams and clients.
• Be willing to help teammates, share knowledge and experience with them, and learn from them.
• Be open to receiving feedback and constructive criticism.
• Be passionate about design and innovation. Research and showcase knowledge in the industry’s latest trends and technologies.
• Certification (e.g., NN Group or HFI) a big plus.
