The BNY Mellon Legal Data Management & Advisory group is a cross-functional team within the firm’s Legal Department. Leveraging innovative legal technology and a wide range of legal expertise, we help scope and accelerate regulatory and business initiatives with an eye toward the future.

Role Overview:
The Counsel will be a part of the department’s Legal Data Management & Advisory group, which is responsible for implementing, maintaining and enhancing the firm’s artificial intelligence repository and Contract Lifecycle Management solutions; and advising on global regulatory and business change management initiatives. In the U.S., the Legal Data Management & Advisory legal team is primarily based in New York but work closely with legal and business colleagues worldwide. A Counsel in this role will (i) provide interpretative guidance on a variety of financial contracts types; (2) advise on regulatory change impact; and (3) leverage legal technology, including machine learning, to provide strategic solutions to business and legal stakeholders.

• Ability to learn and use new technologies.

Qualifications & Experience:
• 3-5 years of experience, preferably representing major financial institutions
• Bar admission in the relevant jurisdiction in which the role is based.
• Familiarity with a variety of financial contract types such as master netting agreements, custody agreements, and lending agreements experience strongly preferred.
• Experience working with technology, software, data and analytics. Experience with contract analytics and Contract Lifecycle Management tools, and Excel a plus.
• Experience with large scale change management projects in a leadership capacity a plus.
