Full-time Entry Level Technical Writer #2505

at Three Saints Bay, LLC in United States Of America

Eagle Harbor, a Federal Contractor leader is looking for an Entry Level Technical Writer to support the US Coast Guard Office of Standards Evaluation and Development in Washington, DC.

Responsibilities include:

Updating the online Department of Homeland Security (DHS) library site with current versions of technical standards incorporated by reference (IBR). This includes:
Logging onto Project Server to open PDF documents containing technical standards;
Comparing those standards to the standards listed in the online Code of Federal regulations (eCFR) to find and document all references to the same standard;
Using the information in the PDF to update an Excel spreadsheet listing each standard incorporated by reference in the eCFR, and compare versions and issue dates;
Searching the Excel spreadsheet for duplicate standards and resolving discrepancies;
Transferring the information from the Excel sheet to the online DHS IBR library; and
Meeting via Teams with the project manager for regular updates and instructions.
Other duties, time allowing, might include:
Recording minutes and providing support during rulemaking team meetings;
Creating spreadsheets to record public comments from regulations.gov dockets; and
Drafting and editing documents such as reports, policy letters, and rulemakings in accordance with templates and writing style guides such as GPO Style Manual, Strunk and White Elements of Style, the Document Drafting Handbook, Federal plain language guidelines, and the in-house Style Guide.
Required Qualifications and Skills (Entry Level Technical Writer):

Bachelor's degree.
Strong command of the English language and excellent attention to detail.
Ability to follow detailed data entry instructions and work without constant supervision.
Competence in MS Word; Excel, Adobe, and Outlook and experience with collaborative working and cloud-based environments such as SharePoint and Microsoft Teams.
Have or be able to obtain (and maintain) a Government clearance.
Work Setting and Environment:

32 hours a week, Monday thru Friday.
Coast Guard Headquarters is located in Southeast Washington, DC, Anacostia Metro.
Unless/until requirements change, work will be performed remotely, other than for in-house training and required onsite days for fingerprints, badging, and etc.
Work will require using a government-furnished computer, the ability to obtain and hold a CAC/PIV card, and sufficient internet to connect and perform all required tasks.
