Your support helps us to keep families near to their child in a hospital far from home, by providing a free home away from home accommodation minutes away from their child's bedside.


Our client, Ronald McDonald House Charities, was established as an independent charity in 1989. Their Houses not only provide families with accommodation but with a space where they can rest, cook and take time out from the hospital, so they can continue to stay strong for their child. Children who require specialist medical care often travel long distances to receive treatment. Their Houses are located next to specialist children's hospitals and they have 12 Houses in the UK.


They build and run Houses that provide a home away from home for families who have a sick child in hospital. To do this, they recognise the importance of having strong support in their House team. This is a diverse and highly rewarding role; you will ensure the highest standards of safety and hospitality to families and visitors and the day-to-day practices that give rise to the smooth running of the House.


They seeking to appoint a Deputy Manager situated in Birmingham for a Charity that provides free accommodation for families who have a sick child in hospital. The role is diverse and duties include management of the day-to-day duties associated with communal living, ensuring the premises are well-maintained, and supervising employees, volunteers and other visitors.




The Role

Coach and lead a team of House Assistants, Housekeepers and other operations supporting roles to balance the challenge of communal living & creating a supportive home from home environment

Work with House teams to allocate rooms and standardise family introductions to the House

Coordinate administration and operational duties within the team

To ensure all fundraising opportunities are forwarded on appropriately and ensure the relationship with a gift-in-kind donor is nurtured

To establish and develop valuable donor relationships, ensuring all fundraising opportunities are explored and passed on appropriately

To work to an agreed budget and understand the importance of maintaining tight controls within the House

To increase family engagement including attending House events and activities



The Candidate

You will be self-motivated, enjoy working as part of a team and share our vision of wanting to keep families close to their sick children.

You will be responsible for the management and development of the Front of House Team and for creating a safe and welcoming environment for the families to stay in during difficult times.

You will be a proactive and positive individual with excellent organisational and interpersonal skills with the welfare and wellbeing of the families and staff at the forefront of all your work.

The role is Full Time (35 Hours), which may include some evening and weekend work (shift coverage is 7 am - 9 pm each day).
