Full-time PDC Research Scientist

at Ignite Recruitment in Texas

A global Oil and Gas Corporation is seeking a creative innovative talent to join the growing team. This is a unique opportunity for a PDC research scientist with extensive knowledge and expertise in polycrystalline diamond synthesis, characterization, performance testing and application. This position will perform research and development of super hard material and related processes, conduct laboratory tests and performance analysis to characterize the material as well as optimize the process and the formula, provide technical support in material qualification, quality control, field application and manufacturing of downhole tools.

The PDC research scientist will report directly to the Manager, Drilling Products.

Responsibilities:



·Conduct all business activities in agreement with company policy

·Perform research and development of polycrystalline diamond material and related processes.

·Conduct laboratory and field tests to characterize and evaluate the performance of the developed products

·Perform field product failure analysis to identify root causes and provide improvement recommendations

·Provide technical supports to engineering, manufacturing, and field operations, as well as interface with customers and suppliers.

·Provide material related recommendations and development roadmaps for research and new product development projects.

·Prepare commercial/technical proposals/reports/patent applications.

Key Skills:



·Extensive knowledge and experience in polycrystalline diamond and related material development.

·Hands-on experience in HTHP sintering processes and related equipment including cubic press and calibration techniques.

·Proven work experience in material characterization and testing techniques, such as metallography, SEM, XRD, XRF, VTL, fracture and fatigue, hardness, wear, tensile and compression testing.

·Familiar with materials handling and processing, including diamond powders, metal alloys, and ceramic powders, HTHP cell component design and assembly, and quality control standards

·Effective communication skills; requires both interpersonal and technical communication skills

·Effective writing and presentation ability.

·Proven ability to deliver results on time, on target with quality and sustainability.

·Ability to prepare technical reports, patent disclosures and technical publications.

·Ability to effectively lead research and development projects



Qualifications:

Master's Degree in Material Science & Engineering or related field with minimum 5 years of oil and gas industry experience

·Preferred PhD Degree with minimum 3 years of oil and gas industry experience

·

Legally authorized to work in the United States of America

Supervisory Responsibility:

This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities

Job Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8 to 5 PM
