Full-time Advanced R&D Engineer/Scientist

This position is responsible for planning and conducting hands-on product development under minimal supervision. Applies scientific and engineering skills, creativity, and technical know-how from the literature to devise solutions to difficult technical problems. Creates and protects intellectual property for the company. Participates in creating a safe working environment. Communicates with external customers regarding product requirements and development results where appropriate.

Key Responsibilities:
• Designs and conducts experiments to develop products in alignment with the business objectives and according to project timelines
• Actively acquires new skills to drive the projects forward. Plans and oversees the next steps required to drive the product into its next stages
• Supports all aspects of product development and technology transfer efforts
• Works cooperatively with the Manufacturing sites to scale up and transfer products and processes
• Prepares documentation as needed for SDS, operating procedures, batch records, job safety analysis, capital equipment purchases etc.
• Works closely with the Business teams to develop project road maps and timelines, to prepare product literature for sales and marketing
• Actively participates in Voice of Customer discussions to develop the customer’s product requirements
• Travels to other Honeywell facilities and customer sites as required
• May supervise and provide technical guidance to junior scientists, engineers, or technicians
• Stays up to date on technical literature in project areas, both on the specifics of the development and the application of the product
• Actively participates in project in technology review meetings and provides expert opinions
• Submits invention disclosures in a timely fashion and works with IP attorneys on freedom to practice analysis and filing patents

YOU MUST HAVE
•Bachelor of Science in Chemistry, Material Science, Polymer Chemistry or Organic Chemistry
•4+ years of hands-on R&D experience in design and syntheses of organic and inorganic polymers, development of coating formulations and application processes, advanced filtration technologies and metals purification processes.

WE VALUE

•Masters and/or PhD in Chemistry, Polymer Chemistry or Organic Chemistry
•Must have a strong aptitude to perform research work independently and ability to scale up and transfer laboratory processes to manufacturing
•Must be able to perform as individual contributor as well as an effective member of cross functional teams, and mentor junior staff members
•Hands-on expertise in the following areas is preferable: developing chemical formulations and spin coating, metals purification and advanced filtration; thin films and materials characterization; good oral and written communication skills
•Knowledge and some experience in the following areas is desirable: semiconductor materials and applications; accelerated aging tests; working knowledge statistical analysis software and conducting DOE
