Position Summary
The Technology Training Consultant position facilitates information technology (IT) service adoption by providing technology training services to the University of Oregon, coordinate training services with other departments and vendors, and provide training support for escalated service requests. It requires an instructional design perspective to create engaging and accessible online training materials, repeatable processes that show learning over time, and to perform well in an environment with competing demands, sometimes with short timelines and fast-approaching deadlines.
The position also requires comfort with presenting to a wide audience, demonstrating cultural humility and flexibility in learning styles, the ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with campus IT staff and other campus training specialists, as well as faculty and staff served by these IT services.
This position analyzes training needs, determines the best method for delivering training on different topics, and evaluates training effectiveness. Most training is self-paced and online; however, in-person training can be required.
This position will receive general supervision and regular feedback from the USS Knowledge Manager, who assigns and assesses work through periodic discussion and review. This includes regular updates on workflows, presenting expected problems, updating the status of major projects, and offering self-assessments of goals. These regular updates provide the basis of an annual performance evaluation from the USS Knowledge Manager based on visual inspection of work, ongoing conversations, and interviewing customers and colleagues to ensure alignment with department goals.
The job duties may require occasional travel overnight to university events and/or facilities to deliver training and attend meetings. They must be able to lift and transport training equipment and move and rearrange classroom furniture.
