The Heavy Haul Driver is responsible for operating Commercial Flatbed Trucks at Environmental Allies job sites. This individual will be hauling heavy earth work equipment to and from jobsites. You are also required to perform inspections before and after a trip, and load/unload Heavy Equipment from the trailer to the project jobsites. This driver will also follow appropriate safety procedures to transport cargo and maintain logs fo vehicle repair status and working hours.

Duties & Responsibilities

. Deliver Heavy Equipment to project construction job sites such as dozers, tractors, skitters, excavators, etc)

. Load and unload, tie and strap Heavy Equipment at construction job sites

· Check vehicles to ensure that mechanical, safety, and emergency equipment is in good working order.

· Inspect loads to ensure that cargo is secure.

· Maintain logs of working hours or of vehicle service or repair status, following applicable state and federal regulations.

· Maneuver trucks into loading or unloading positions, following signals from loading crew and checking that vehicle and loading equipment are properly positioned.

· Report vehicle defects, accidents, traffic violations, or damage to the vehicles

· Collect delivery instructions from appropriate sources, verifying instructions and routes.

· Perform basic vehicle maintenance tasks, such as adding oil, fuel, or radiator fluid or performing minor repairs.

· Load or unload trucks or help others with loading or unloading, using special loading-related equipment or other equipment as necessary.

Qualifications / Competencies

CDL CLASS A REQUIRED
· High school diploma or GED Required.

· 2-3 years experience with construction equipment deliveries and operating flat beds

. 2-3 years’ experience driving half round and full size dump trailer with manual transmission·

Class A Drivers’ License

Working Conditions & Physical Requirements

· Substantial movements (motion) of the wrist, hands, and/or fingers in a repetitive manner.

· Manual dexterity sufficient to reach/handle items, works with the fingers, and perceives attributes of objects and materials.

· The ability to work in hot environments/extreme weather.

· Outdoors but in an enclosed vehicle protected from extreme weather conditions.

· Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally to lift, carry, pull, or otherwise move objects.

· Moderate physical activity performing somewhat strenuous daily activities of a primarily product/technical nature.

· The visual acuity required including color, depth perception and field of those who whose work includes the operation of trucks, forklifts, cranes and high lift equipment.

· Outdoors but in an enclosed vehicle protected from extreme weather conditions.

· Perceiving the nature of sounds with or without correction, to receive detailed information through oral communication, and to make fine discrimination in sound, such as when making fine adjustments on equipment or machines.

· Raising objects from a lower to a higher position or moving object horizontally from position to position.
