Job Description:
Title- AV Specialist I
Team-Learning Spaces

Position Summary:
The IT Learning Spaces - AV Specialist I position fills a critical role in carrying out the mission of the Learning Spaces team by supporting the best learning and teaching environments using world-class information technology services. The position plays an integral support role within the Learning Spaces team, handling a wide range of audio visual (AV) and classroom technology related support needs across the University of Oklahoma - HSC campus. This role will be pivotal in ensuring AV and AV-related technologies meet the needs of various constituents throughout campus including classrooms, conference rooms, and any spaces with AV technologies.

Duties:
Provides all audio-visual services to conferences and meetings for customers both internal and external to the university.
Provides technical support and/or assistance with event planning and audio-visual equipment setups.
Inter-connects and runs video, projection, audio, lighting, electrical systems and computers networks in the field.
Performs videography and editing, DVD duplications, and audio-visual production of events.
Supervises equipment loan check in/out, maintenance, inventory and paperwork.
Determines equipment rental rates, making up the initial quote for the client, and tracking equipment used during events.
Cleans or replaces worn out equipment or tools, building cables and replacing connectors.
Organizes and orders supplies and manages equipment and supply inventories.
Maintains the stability and integrity of projection systems, audio hardware and management of audio-visual equipment.
May supervise and assist with routine job assignments of less experienced team members.
Performs various duties as needed to successfully fulfill the functions of the position.

Job Requirements:

Education:
Bachelor's degree.

Experience:
24 months of experience in broadcast engineering, event production, audio-video production, lighting setup and operation.

Equivalency/Substitution:
Will accept 48 months of experience in lieu of the Bachelor's degree for a total of 72 months' related experience.

Skills:
Video or audio editing skills.
Ability to operate studio and remote equipment and video editing systems.
Basic understanding of AC distribution systems.
Knowledge of transmission systems, including fiber-optics, streaming, and video conferencing.
Advanced computer skills with wide knowledge of business software.
Read and understand complex written materials such as blueprints, metrics or technical manuals.
Detail oriented for accuracy of data and information.
Highly organized and able to handle multiple projects and deadlines.
Strong written and oral communication.
Ability to terminate various low voltage wiring including Cat6, Cresnet, and speaker wire.
Familiarity with emerging technologies from companies such as Zoom, Crestron, and Atlona.

Working Conditions:
Physical: Ability to engage in repetitive motion. Ability to set up, connect and trouble-shoot equipment. Ability to transport heavy and bulky audio and visual equipment.
Environmental: Extended periods of time working at a computer.
