This position offers the potential for a management track.

ROLE and RESPONSIBILITIES

Engineering Design
Complete field investigations (existing conditions), develop conceptual design solutions, prepare engineering assessment reports, and basis of design reports.
Lead HVAC design for complex facilities including Universities, K-12, Data Centers, Hospitals, Correctional Facilities, Mixed-Use, Commercial Office Buildings, Laboratories, and Industrial Facilities.
Prepare and manage the development of design and construction documents including drawings, calculations, specifications, reports, etc.
Apply standard engineering design principles and methodologies as well as applicable codes in the preparation of construction documents.
Maintain complete and orderly project files and documentation.
Perform design reviews and peer reviews as part of the QC process.
Ensure that all work products are consistent with scope, schedule, budget, and quality requirements.
Maintain current knowledge of applicable codes and construction standards.
Maintain working knowledge of new technologies and industry trends.

PROJECT MANAGEMENT

Assist the Senior Project Manager with daily tasks associated with scope, schedule, and budget on larger projects.
Perform project management responsibilities for limited scope projects.
Promptly identify and communicate any project related issues and concerns to management.

BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT

Foster positive client relationships at all levels. “Doer-Seller” model.
Seek and identify A-E opportunities with existing and new clients and collaborate with the business development team.
Develop A-E scopes of services and fee proposals.
Attend and participate in industry events.

EXPERIENCE

Ideally 5+ years of experience in HVAC engineering and design preferably in the consulting industry. Preferred industry experience includes Federal/DoD, civic, life sciences, health care, manufacturing, and higher education.
Applied practice and proficiency in facilities / industrial engineering, particularly HVAC Systems. Additional experience in Mechanical Utilities (steam, condensate, gas, etc.), Industrial Process Piping Systems, Compressed Air Systems, Domestic Water and Sanitary Systems, and Plumbing Systems is highly desirable.
Understanding of current industry and Federal/DoD codes and standards (UFC, IBC, NFPA, ASHRAE, ASTM, ANSI, etc.). Ability to establish and reference applicable codes and standards and interpretation of such specific to the associated design.
Experience with Building Automation Systems (DDC) is preferred.
Experience with HVAC and energy modeling and design software.
Working knowledge of AutoCAD Architecture, Engineering & Construction Suite 2018 (AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Revit, etc.).
Working knowledge of AutoCAD Product Design & Manufacturing Suite 2018 (Inventor, MEP, Rendering, etc.)

EDUCATION and CREDENTIALS

Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree of Engineering (Mechanical preferred)
E.I.T on track to obtain Professional Engineering (P.E.) Licensure
U.S. Citizenship required
Ability to obtain security clearance for Federal and DoD agencies requiring background checks.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: (Submission Summary):

1. Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree of Engineering (Mechanical preferred)

2. Ability to obtain security clearance for Federal and DoD agencies requiring background checks

3. Ideally a licensed PE or E.I.T on track to obtain Professional Engineering (P.E.) Licensure

4. AutoCAD, Revit, and Assembly code experience.

5. Mechanical and design proposal writing experience.
