Material handler/ Forklift Operator Full-time

Summary/Objective: The material handler compiles and maintains materials, parts inventory, and status information to expedite movement of material and parts between production areas.

Essential Functions:

1. Move materials using appropriate equipment to included forklift, hand-crane, pallet jack, shrink wrap machine, etc.
2. Read production schedules, inventory reports, and work orders to determine type and quantity of materials required, availability of stock, and order priority.
3. Confer with department supervisors to determine overdue material and parts and to inform supervisors of material status.
4. Direct warehouse staff to expedite transfer of materials from stock area to production areas.
5. Examine material received, verify parts numbers, and check discrepancies such as damaged or unmarked parts.
6. Compare work ticket specifications to material used at work stations to verify appropriate assignment.
7. Use hand-held scanner to scan and sort product by part number and create and print delivery note or to receive product.
8. Verify all portions of material for accuracy including part numbers, quantities, weight, label placement, etc.
9. Pick from and store product into system-directed locations and move to staging zone or conveyor as required.
10. Problem solves/escalate product that will not store appropriately.
11. Responsible for meeting incoming deliveries trailers at the dock with the yard tractor.

Supervisory Responsibility:
This position does not have any supervisory responsibilities.
Work Environment:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud. Proper safety equipment to be used when necessary.
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work: This is a full-time position. Hours of work are Monday through Friday, 40 hours per week as scheduled by the supervisor. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
Required Education and Experience:
Experience as a material handler/forklift operator in a manufacturing setting for at least 1 (one) year.
Ability to read, write, and speak English.
Ability to read and understand work orders and material information.
Ability to interact and collaborate with production associates and members of management daily.
Preferred Education and Experience:
Experience as a material handler/forklift operator in a manufacturing setting for at least 3 (three) years.
