Research Assistant

at Jobisite in Texas

The Equal Rights Center is a national non-profit civil rights organization dedicated to promoting equal opportunity in housing, employment, public accommodations, and government services. We are seeking several students to work as part-time paid research assistants for a short-term investigation focused on discrimination among employers in the Houston area starting in March, 2022.

Commitment and Compensation:
Selected student participants will receive a stipend of $90 for completing a 5-6 hour training course, and will then receive stipends of at least $15/hour and some travel reimbursements for subsequent assignments. Most assignments will be completed over the course of several weeks. Some students may be assigned follow-up work in the next phase of the project in 2022.

Qualifications:
- Ability to follow strict project protocol and confidentiality rules and write detailed, accurate reports on a short timeline.
- Ability to travel to various locations in the Houston area and speak to people from a wide range of backgrounds in settings which may be unfamiliar.
- A demonstrated interest in social science research, civil rights, and/or labor rights. Some knowledge of experimental design concepts is an advantage.
- Spanish fluency is a plus but not required.
