Full-time Clerk to the Trustees

Our Client is an independent Charity specialising in the provision of high-quality independent living Almshouse accommodation for elderly persons in Northampton. They are searching on their behalf for a new Clerk to the Trustees as the result of a forthcoming planned retirement.

The Clerk to the Trustees is accountable for the smooth running of the site, team, contractors, relationships with residents and supporting the board of trustees.

The post is responsible for the administration of records that support day-to-day activities and the compliance and regulatory matters required by the Board and Charities Commission. Other responsibilities include oversight of the schedule for property and grounds maintenance, to ensure the fabric and infrastructure of the site are kept to the required standards. Maintaining required records and administration processes for the team and residents and delivering updates and reports for the Board of Trustees as required. Representing the Charity positively while at work and in any communications, social media, or events, ensuring that all work meets the required regulatory obligations and those recommended in the Standards of Almshouse Management.

This is a part-time position with elements of work that could be home-based and hours that can be worked flexibly.


This is a unique and rewarding opportunity and ideally, candidates will have:

A track record in the management or leadership of people, best practice administration techniques, working with the public, knowledge of housing management, maintenance, safeguarding and working with adults in a supported setting.

Knowledge of quality and basic IT systems, effective report writing, resource planning and analysing of data.

Experience in working independently and as part of a team, using initiative to deliver agreed-on plans and goals.

Good communication skills and enjoy working with other people and the elderly.


Applicants are required to hold an enhanced DBS certificate.
