SR Project Manager

Atlanta, GA 30328 - Must be local to area.

This is an Onsite 12 Month Contract - NO C2C - No Exceptions.

Must be a US Citizen or Green Card holder.

This role is onsite from Day 1 with an option to work in a Hybrid model. Please submit local candidates only!

Job Summary

Requires a high degree of PM knowledge, exp., skill & expertise from basic proj admin tasks to strategic application of the discipline.
Addl. soft skills needed: Comm, problem solving, managing for results, managing conflict, creativity & critical thinking.
Operates in coordination with & takes direction from both the ePMO Lead/Project Lead to ensure:
All proj activities/outputs align with strategic objectives, deliverables, schedules, business case & expectations set with Sponsors & UPS senior leadership.
Support combination of complex/multiple smaller proj while facilitating/guiding team to adhere to PM discipline.
This position will drive setting the team’s cadence for planning, updates & status reviews with Sponsors. He/she supports the success of the proj by applying UPS PM principles, guidelines & stds. Travel may be required as needed.

Job Duties

Assists Project Lead to Ensure Proj Output Meets Program Expectations (~ 15% of time)
Facilitates all Proj Planning & Execution of PM Activities (~ 25% of time)
Applies PM Processes/Tools Appropriate for Proj (~ 50% of time)
Identifies/Manages Interdependencies with other Proj/Initiatives (~ 10% of time)
Manages proj scope, schedule, initiation, start-up/design, building & deployment of proj from beginning to end
Creates/manages PM artifacts while educating the team on their creation/proper use throughout proj such as:
o Project Charter
o Project Pln
o RACI
o ID Risk/Issue & mitigation
o Status report dev/updates appropriate PM artifacts, as needed
Reviews deliverables & ensures quality.
Provides PM methodology/tools to ensure proper governance, oversight, strategic alignment & proj success.
Facilitates initiation/planning of proj scope (i.e. Objectives, resources, milestones, risks, comms, etc)
Analyzes funding, cost plans & actual expenses to verify expenses are in line with funding with the Project Lead
Proficient in PM discipline with emphasis on effective use of PM soft skills essential to his/her success
Solicits/gathers info. via interviews with process owners to understand the "as-is" &" to-be" processes
Identifies individual/team skill gaps & recommends improvement opportunities.
Provides internal/external customers & stakeholders thorough responses to problem resolution.
Identifies root causes to ensure problems do not reoccur.
Communicate processes to customers trained on process changes/enhancements.
Dev/monitor process metrics to gauge health of a proj & identify process improvement opportunities.
Observe a process & gather feedback/concern from others for process improvement opportunities.

Required Qualifications

Exp. applying Stakeholder/Comm. Mgmt. principles including governing bodies/Owners/Sponsors/key senior stakeholders/Project Lead/team/SME's.
Able to plan weeks in advance to plan efforts & manage multiple projects.
Able to work full time (~40 hours per week with potential to work overtime if necessary); must be flexible to work occasional wkds., holidays & possible overnight stays depending on the assignment, as needed.
Exp./expertise with commercial PM software (i.e., MS Project /Office/etc.) & the ability to learn UPS Projects Website & other tools.
Exp. with web-based remote meeting applications (i.e., Skype, Zoom, etc.)
Willing to travel by plane or driving personal vehicle or rental car. [Note: mileage, airfare, rental car will be reimbursed]
BS Degree (or int’l comparable degree)
5 years complex proj, prog, or PMO exp.
8 years PM exp.
Exp. using MS Office including MS Project/SharePoint

Preferred Qualifications

Local to the job posting.
PM Certifications: PMI PMP, Agile, LEAN Certified/Six Sigma, etc

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: (Submission Summary):

1. BS Degree (or int’l comparable degree)

2. 5 years complex proj, prog, or PMO experience

3. 8 years PM experience

4. Technical experience to build/deploy new Project Management tools

5. Experience with building, automating and deploying intake management solutions leveraging Microsoft 365 suite of solutions (i.e. Power Automate,

Power Apps, List, SharePoint, Power BI)

6. Ability to leverage project management details collected to build out Power BI dashboards to provide details on project status at the aggregate and detail level.

7. Knowledge about both waterfall and agile practices.

8. Experience with multiple project management tools (i.e. Microsoft Project, Wrike, etc.) to support product evaluations and recommendations along with supporting development and implementation activities

9. Experience with IT project management tools (i.e. JIRA, MS Azure DevOps) and the ability to connect these tools to the intake management processes

10. PM Certifications: PMI PMP, Agile, LEAN Certified/Six Sigma, etc – preferred

11. Must be a US Citizen or Green Card holder.
