Full-time Gas Design Technician

at TECO Peoples Gas in Florida

The Gas Design Technician (GDT) I, II, III & Gas Project Manager (GPM) progression supports PGS transmission and distribution system construction and maintenance projects. The GDT/GPM creates, initiates, and/or processes work requests in Power Plant and other Work Management systems (WMS), determines customer requirements, prepares piping system designs, cost estimates and feasibility analysis, interacts and coordinates with municipalities, FDOT, and others in maintaining and optimizing system integrity due to road improvements and system expansions, makes use of and updates the GIS and CRM-CIS systems, obtains necessary governmental permits and coordinates activities with all involved PGS departments to ensure the successful scheduling and completion of projects to achieve a high level of customer satisfaction.
As the level increases the roles, responsibilities, and requirements will be more complex and larger in scope.

WORKING CONDITIONS
Work hours consist of a minimum of 8-hours per day Monday through Friday. Some overtime is required to meet customer deadlines and storm response. Working conditions are both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions. The level of stress is moderate to heavy depending upon the level of interaction with customers and governmental agencies. May be assigned to the Call-Out rotation schedule as an after-hours coordinator for emergency response.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS/REQUIREMENTS
Physical demand requirements include working in field conditions, walking in rough terrain, lifting objects up to 50 lbs., and wearing appropriate Personal Protective Equipment in an 8-hour day.
