Waikiki Health is recruiting for a full time Referral Clerk. The Referral Clerk, under the direction of the manager, is responsible for performing the day-to-day operations and workflow process for internal and external referrals. Duties are: receiving, processing, tracking, completing referral orders and documenting in the electronic health record in coordination with clinical providers.

Duties include but are not limited to:
• Determine eligibility for referral order.
• Documents referral status in EMR accurately.
• Follow up pending referral status and sending them a letter to non-compliant patients.
• Must be able to spell words correctly, both in English and medical terminology in order to be able to complete referral forms. Maintains strict patient confidentiality.
• Maintain compliance with all state and federal laws and regulations, as they pertain to position including; HIPAA, OSHA, and the agency’s policies and procedures.
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:
• High School diploma or equivalent is required.
• Familiarity with common software programs, (i.e. Windows-based programs) an ability to quickly learn new systems.
• Ability to communicate effectively with patients, community members, and staff members.
• Learn and understand the different types of medical coverage.
• Proficient in computer skills: typing, navigating through the internet and emails.
• Ability to learn and understand regulations governing eligibility.
• OSHA training
