Full-time Operational Manager (Interim)

Our Client, The Pepper Pot Centre is a vital, Caribbean community resource for the over 60s in Kensington & Chelsea and neighbouring Boroughs, seeking to combat discrimination, isolation, depression and loneliness and help our members to take charge of their lives and live in a healthy and independent manner.

They are recruiting a full-time Manager to join their team on a six-month, fixed-term contract.


As the successful candidate, you will be a proactive and community-focused individual with a strong grasp of the needs of older people from Caribbean backgrounds and other BME communities to take an exciting step in their career with our organisation.


You will:

Supervise the planning and delivery of our menu of services and activities designed to combat and prevent isolation, loneliness and depression amongst our Caribbean and other BME elders.

Liaise with partner organisations including Royal Borough of Kensington & Chelsea, Global Radio, Sky, National Lottery, Nandos, Brand Museum, Age UK, Open Age and others.

Lead, develop and manage the existing team to achieve the organisation’s core aims and objectives.

Ensure the proper management and administration of the organisation, including any statutory or regulatory requirements.

Work with our social support to provide an effective level of marketing and promotion that will encourage and attract new members to join the Centre.

Work with the staff to receive and take action on referrals made to the Centre by the community, statuary, voluntary and other organisations.

Represent the Charity at external meetings, seminars and conferences and develop new links with external partners and potential sponsors.

Support the fundraising structures and partnerships to ensure the centre’s long-term financial sustainability.

Produce written reports for the Board of Trustees and our sponsors.

Adhere to PPC’s internal administrative protocols and procedures, including Finance Procedures, Equal Opportunities, Health and Safety and Data Protection policies.

Take on such additional tasks as may be agreed with the Board.


As the successful candidate, you will have:


An understanding the essential needs of older people from Caribbean backgrounds and other BME communities and a commitment to working closely and actively with these groups

The ability to articulate a clear, inspiring and well-defined vision and lead colleagues to achieve it.

Good organisational skills with a methodical approach to working on several tasks simultaneously within agreed deadlines.

Effective communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of people at all levels.

High level of written and research skills with the ability to draft letters, invites, reports etc.

Able to work outside normal working hours on as required e.g. evenings, weekends etc.



Desirable

A full, clean driving licence.

Experience working with a management committee.

Some knowledge of the Statutory and Voluntary sector.


Contract length: Six-month, fixed term

Salary: £40,000
