Full-time Staff Accountant

at Jobisite in Nevada

Job Purpose/Summary

The Staff Accountant assists the CFO & the finance team related to transactional accounting, processes, and procedures: including responsibility for balance sheet and income statement accounts, as well as the month-end and year-end financial closing. Maintain financial accuracy of the organization general accounting requirements and assumes responsibility for post-award grant billing ensuring compliance with funding source administrative guidelines.

Duties and Responsibilities
-Drive the financial planning process, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial modeling.
-Prepares journal entries and balance sheet account reconciliations as assigned, including performing analysis and making recommendations as applicable.
-Reviews and approves balance sheet account reconciliations as assigned.
-Manages and maintains all required transactions and documentation related to journal entries and account reconciliations.
-Analyzes, reconciles, balances, and maintains accounting records; assists in developing budgets and special financial reports.
-Prepares, reviews and/or audits allocation spreadsheets and grant related budgets, revenue, expense, payroll, and journal entries.
-Creates and maintains routine spreadsheets from intermediate to advanced difficulty, prepares financial data for input into finance systems, performs calculations, and generates reports.
-Prepares grant billing and reporting to ensure all appropriate expenses are billed and documentation is submitted and maintained to fulfill all audit requirements.
-Monitors revenue and expenses for project accounts; ensures expenditure control and compliance with funding and reporting requirements, agency policy, and standard accounting procedures, as well as offering advice and recommendations to the program staff.
-Reviews expenditures, personnel, and purchasing documents for availability of funding, correctness, and compliance with agency policy and state and federal funding requirements.
-Interacts with and supports project staff regarding finance policies and procedures and funding requirements.
-Calculates and records monthly income to include indirect/administrative costs for grants.
-Ensures accuracy of request for funds.
-Prepares accurate and timely schedules for the annual audit and tax return.
-Assists with other areas of accounting to ensure timely month-end closing.
-Protects all confidential information, company property and electronic data. Complies with safety rules.
-Works with internal and external parties on financial matters and audits of the programs.
-Collaborate with executives and department heads to develop financial plans aligned with organizational goals
-Attend one ‘Pop Up & Give’ event per month unless otherwise specified
-Other related duties as directed.


Special Projects
-Oversee or participate in special projects as assigned by Executive Leadership
-Attending offsite community outreach events when necessary.

Qualifications and Competencies
-Demonstrate values consistent with the stated mission and culture of The Just One Project
-Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or a related field.
-Strong financial analysis, forecasting, and budgeting skills
-Knowledge of financial management software, such as QuickBooks -Online or similar tools
-Familiarity with non-profit financial laws, regulations, and reporting requirements.
-Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities and strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
-Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships and work alongside individuals of diverse cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds
-Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
-Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a strong commitment to customer service
-Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing to include preparing clear and concise reports
-Knowledge of Microsoft based applications (excel, word) and Google (docs, drive, email) based applications
-Bilingual English and Spanish (Strongly preferred)
-Knowledge of Salesforce databases is a plus
-Must possess valid unrestricted Nevada driverÂ’s license and reliable vehicle
-Must be able to pass a criminal background check and drug screening

Work Environment & Physical Demands

-Ability to sit, use hands and fingers, talk or hear continually. Ability to stand, walk, reach, push, pull regularly and for extended periods of time. Ability to climb or balance, stoop, kneel, or crouch regularly. Must be able to lift, push, pull, etc. efficiently and on a regular basis. Ability to work in fast paced active environment
Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs
Frequently exposed to various controlled and uncontrolled weather conditions
