Lake Crew Leader
Position Overview:
Under general supervision acts as a leadsperson over a crew performing a variety of unskilled, semiskilled and skilled tasks while engaged in major repair activities involving River Parks services or facilities and performs other related assigned duties.
Essential Task
Performs lead work such as planning activities according to priority, problem solving and decision making.
Maintains worksite safety including confined space entry.
Directs installation, maintenance and repairs of lake/dam appurtenances and related facilities.
Implement comprehensive maintenance plans for the upkeep of municipal lake facilities, including docks, dams, boat ramps, shoreline areas, and recreational amenities.
Operates, directs and trains others in the use and maintenance of a variety of medium to heavy construction equipment, automotive and power equipment.
Coordinate with maintenance teams to ensure timely completion of tasks, including landscaping, debris removal, and infrastructure repairs.
Conduct regular inspections of lake facilities to identify maintenance needs and prioritize work orders.
Oversee the day-to-day operation of the lake and dam facilities, including water levels, spillway operations, and flood control measures.
Monitor environmental conditions and water quality to ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
Collaborate with relevant stakeholders, such as government agencies and environmental organizations, to address operational challenges and implement best practices.
Oversee vegetation management efforts, including invasive species control, aquatic weed removal, and shoreline restoration projects.
Enhance habitat diversity and wildlife populations through the implementation of habitat enhancement initiatives and ecosystem restoration projects.
Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations governing lake management, water quality standards, and environmental protection.
Maintain accurate records of permit applications, inspections, and regulatory correspondence related to lake/dam maintenance activities.
Instructs others in the safety and operation of powered hand tools and equipment.
Collaborate with regulatory agencies to address compliance issues and implement corrective actions as needed.

Qualifications:
Minimum of 5 years of supervisory experience
Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in lake or water resource management, environmental conservation, or park maintenance.
Strong knowledge of park maintenance standards, Safety, and mechanical systems.
Experience in project management, construction principals, and team leadership.
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact with diverse stakeholders, including government officials, community members, and environmental organizations.
Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills:
Comprehensive knowledge of manual work practices, methods, tools, equipment and materials of varied semiskilled major repair and maintenance work; and comprehensive knowledge of the hazards and safety precautions of the work. Ability to plan and oversee the work of unskilled, semiskilled and skilled workers in a large crew or multiple crews engaged in major repair or heavy construction activities; ability to read and interpret complex plans and specifications; ability to maintain detailed records; ability to perform basic mathematical calculations; ability to carry out work assignments from general directions; and ability to understand and influence the behavior of others within the organization, customers or the public in order to achieve job objectives and cause action or understanding. Applicant must possess skill in the operation of hand, mechanical, automotive and other types of tools and equipment.
Physical Requirements:
Physical requirements include occasional standing and walking; occasional lifts/carries up to 105 pounds; frequent lifts/carries up to 60 pounds; frequent pushing and pulling up to 50 pounds; frequent reaching, balancing, bending, kneeling, handling, climbing, smelling and twisting; occasional crawling and feeling; and vision, speech and hearing sufficient to perform the essential tasks.
Licenses and Certificates:
Possession of a valid Herbicide applicator license from the Oklahoma Department of Agriculture. Some positions within this classification may require a valid Right of Way ApplicatorÂ’s or Aquatic license
