This is an intermediate level engineering position in the area of embedded software development. Individual may be assigned tasks in various areas of support and development based on department requirements and project schedules.
An in-depth understanding of software engineering principles and programming embedded devices is required, along with testing processes and the formal release of firmware and software parts. Should have knowledge of embedded computing systems and RTOS concepts. Needs to be able to understand electrical schematics as they relate to digital systems. This person would need the ability to lead a multi-disciplined hardware/software team in a project from concept, through scheduling, design, and pilot phases and manufacturing.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Applies existing education, work skills, and previous systems engineering experience to the implementation and support of system level software or systems assignments in an environment with limited supervision. Specific duties include:
Generation and evaluation of functional and design specifications
Generation of project schedules pertaining to assigned project.
Design and implementation of embedded systems
Testing of embedded systems
Generation of system test plans
Submittal of systems for quality assurance testing, and subsequent follow-up
Support of software systems as necessary
Supervision of other individuals as assigned
Acting as a resource to other engineers
QUALIFICATIONS
A B.S. Computer Engineering, B.S. Computer Science or equivalent degree with 2 to 5 years experience.
Experience with C, C++, or other structured and object-oriented programming languages and general software and systems development practices.
Experience with real-time operating system environments.
Experience with computer system hardware and architecture.
Experience with software system component integration.
